Welcome to Primal Presa Canario
We are a family run kennel, breeders of rustic, working style Presa Canario in Alberta, Canada. Our dogs are active guardians and family companions as well as working dogs used in Protection work, obedience and sport. We value heath and temperament above all else in this breed. Our dogs are walking examples of what this breed was meant to be. We are fortunate enough to have some of the best specimens in the breed living with us. ALL of our Presas are tested and regularly worked.
Primal is about temperament.
Looking for a Presa that acts like a Lab? This is the wrong place.
Our Presas act like Presas. Period.
While we value and are proud of the pedigrees behind our dogs, we do not ride the coat-tails of dogs we did not own or breed. We talk about what our dogs actually do or have done. Primal is very fortunate to have some of the best working kennel’s blood behind our dogs. We are students of and have much respect for the breeders and trainers who have and still work the blood we are fortunate enough to have.
Coal de Lexa Estate is a black Presa we were fortunate enough to obtain from Todd Blas at Lexa Estate in BC, Canada. Coal is a lean, long legged Presa with athletic ability and good wind from Irma Curto blood. He is a very confident dog with solid nerves. Coal is a very real threat to intruders and the true definition of a home guardian. Coal has had minimal training and conditioning when it comes to bite work, yet he tests very well and consistently. Coal is a calm and stable dog in off-duty mode. This dog is dignified and is a pleasant balance between independent and by-your-side. Never far away, and quick to return to my side as soon as I beckon for him, this dog is an absolute pleasure to have as a companion. Coal is a very hard, dominant dog. If you do not like Coal, you simply do not like or understand the Presa Canario.
Toro was bred by a good friend of mine in Texas. He comes out of both a sire and dam of exceptional quality. Toro has high drive with full and hard bites and an athletic build. In build he is similar to his dam and grand-dam. Toro’s nerves are second to none, he is very steady with an exceptional prey drive. Toro is very social with his family, even goofy at times, but is serious and confident in his role and ability to dominate any threat to himself, his home, or his family. This is a dog that I and everyone who works him think very highly of.
